Cycle Routes

April - May 2024 Update

The ferry service across Windermere that carries bikes is suspended from 15th April for approximately 5 weeks. It is still possible to access the western shoreline for the routes below by following the A591 to Ambleside, once across the River Rothay you are on cycle route 6, which means cycle lanes and gravel trails are on hand to enable you to reach Wray Castle, Hawkshead, Hilltop, and the shoreline bike trail.

We can also advise on routes into the Winster Valley, Staveley, Kentmere, and other beautiful areas that don't require crossing Windermere. If you purchase one of our maps it will help significantly in navigating these alternative routes.
